May 10, In Jerusalem with Friends

Today we had a fun day with some friends that David and I had made 2.5 years ago when we were vacationing in K'far Blum. Geoff and Valerie Harris live in R'anana now and came to spend the day with us in Jerusalem. We met up after our lavish hotel breakfast and headed over to the Machaneh Yehudah with is the major shopping venue in Jerusalem for food stuff. The sights and smells are amazing in this narrow maze of streets lined with tasty goodies and the freshest fruit or cheeses around. Here are some pictures I took in the market.

Halavah in all sorts of flavors.

Olives!

Geoff and Valerie picking out some cheese.

Spices!

Lentils.

Geoff, Alex and Tom chatting at the market.

Pistachio pastries.

Eggs...and they don't refrigerate them.

Air Force induction ceremony at the Kotel. Done after a basic 3 month training. They each receive a bible and a rifle.

Uncle Alex and Aunt Shirley enjoying a sit-down while watching the induction ceremony rehearsal.

Our whole group at the Kotel.
